पत्रकारिता सूचनाएं देने के साथ समाज को शिक्षित और प्रेरित करने का भी काम करती है। मीडिया का क्षेत्र उनके लिए है जो ‘प्रोफेशन’ के साथ ‘पैशन’ की तलाश में हैं। यह क्षेत्र विविधतओं और चुनौतियों से भरा हुआ है। मीडिया में ‘ग्लैमर’ का तड़का है तो वंचित, पीड़ितों, शोषितों की आवाज बनने का अवसर। भारत में विधिवत पत्रकारिता का प्रारंभ 1780 में जेम्स अगस्ट्स हिक्की के अंग्रेजी भाषा के अखबार ‘बंगाल गजट’ से माना से जाता है। इसमें व्यापारिक पानी के जहाजों की आवाजाही की खबरें प्रमुखता से प्रकाशित होती थीं। साथ ही, समय समय पर राजनीतिक व प्राशासनिक गतिविधियों की खबरें या उनपर टिप्पणियां भी प्रकाशित होती थीं। 1826 में हिंदी का पहला अखबार उदंत मार्तंड जुगल किशोर शुक्ल के संपादकीय नेतृत्व में प्रारंभ हुआ। भारत के स्वतंत्रता संघर्ष में पत्रकारिता का अहम योगदान रहा है। आजादी की लड़ाई में अपनी आहुति देने वाले अधिकांश क्रांतिकारियों ने पत्रकारिता की। पत्रकारिता को आजादी की लड़ाई के लिए कारगर टूल के रूप में इस्तेमाल किया। राजा राममोहन राय, ईश्वरचंद्र विद्यासागर, बालगंगाधर तिलक, रविन्द्रनाथ टैगोर, महात्मा गांधी, गणेश शंकर विद्यार्थी, माखनलाल चतुर्वेदी आदि ने लेखनी से स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन को खड़ा किया। मौजूदा दौर में पहुंचने से पहले पत्रकारिता ने एक लंबा सफर तय किया है। आज भारतीय मीडिया को लोकतंत्र का चौथा स्तंभ कहा जाता है। यह नागरिक अधिकारों की आवाज को बुलंद करने का सशक्त माध्यम है। मीडिया सरकार के कामों की समीक्षा करता है और समाज की आवाज को सरकार तक पहुंचाता है। इलेक्ट्रॉनिक मीडिया, प्रिंट मीडिया और न्यू मीडिया के रूप में मीडिया के अनेक माध्यम मौजूदा हैं जहां पत्रकारिता के विविध आयामों पर काम किया जा सकता है। युवा इस क्षेत्र

For more than two decades of my career as a media professional, many a times I have encountered youngsters learning or training in various media companies – Youngsters who aspire to make it big in the fascinating media industry and youngsters who yearn to learn techniques and acquire skills to make a name for themselves. I sense the sincere enthusiasm and ambition in them to excel in the field. I believe that imparting knowledge and skill in the field would hone their skills and stand them in excellent stead in their endeavors in the field – the knowledge and training that our generation was bereft of. I hence dreamt of creating a media and entertainment academy that would provide a holistic blend of academic pursuit and industry excellence.
I am committed to do everything possible for the enrichment of media industry by providing value added media education and training to enterprising and energetic youth at the platform of ISOMES.
